Q. What is the format of the Golden Hour 24 Hour Relay?

A. The race is formatted as a 24-hour relay with the objective to keep someone on the 4 KM course (running or walking) for the full 24 hours and completing as many laps as possible.

Q. Will a team or soloist be disqualified if they do not always have someone on the course at all

times during the 24 hours?

A. No, we understand that some participants may need a recovery period, or that a participant

may be ‘late’ for their ‘shift’. Understand that if there is a gap in participants, the team will not

get as much of a lap count.

Q. When does the race start and finish?

A. The race will start at 8:00 AM on Saturday June 6, 2026, and finish at 8:00 AM on Sunday June 7, 2026.

Q. Is this an annual event?

A. We hope to be able to make this a reoccurring event.

Q. What is the cost of the Golden Hour 24 Hour Relay?

A. Please refer to the website for full registration and costing information.

Q. What is the distance of the course?

A. The race route is a 4Km route through the paved trails of St. Albert. (see map on website). There are no road crossings.

​​

Q. Will official timing and results be available and recorded?

A. Yes, timing and recording will be maintained by our timing officials.

​​

Q. What is the responsibility of the team captains?

A. Team captains will be responsible for organizing their team based on team category, team registration (team reservation), maintaining and submit team roster (including substitutions).

Q. Is this event for serious runners only?

A. The Golden Hour 24 Hour Relay is open to a wide range of participants, so whether you

decide to run or walk the whole 24- hours solo, with a friend or two, or part of a team, the options are there for you. We encourage community and participation.

Q. What are the race categories?

A. Solo

    Duo-Endurance Team (2participants)

    Endurance Team (3 participants)

    Mini Team (4-6 participants)

    Mid Team (7-9 participants)

    Full Team (10-15 participants)

    Unlimited Team (16-24 participants)

Q. Are prizes available?

A. There are prizes for completing the most laps in each category.

There are prizes for the most dollars raised individually and per team in support of the

Matt Cook Foundation on behalf of Layla Hood.

Q. Will there be a place for extra donations to the Matt Cook Foundation?

A. Yes, within the registration process there will be a place for direct donations.

​​

Q. If I know of a company who would like to sponsor this event, who can I have them contact?

A. Have them contact one of the race directors from the website, or through social media.

Q. Is it going to be safe to run in the late evening and early morning hours?

A. At any one time, there will be participants spread over the 4 Km course, sweepers will be on

the course periodically for safety checks.

Q. Are headlamps required?

A. They are not required but recommended to have a couple to share within the team.

​​

​​

Q. Will there be Medical Assistance to support?

A. St. John’s Ambulance will be on site for support for the full 24 Hours.

​​

Q. Are dogs and strollers permitted on the course?

A. Unfortunately for safety we cannot allow strollers or dogs, because the course is on the public trail system of St. Albert, it is not a closed course.

Q. Will parking be available?

A. Parking will be available but limited.

​​

​​

Q. Will overnight camping be allowed?

A. Yes, we have secured permission to allow teams interested in camping to stay overnight.

Overnight camping will need to adhere to the noise by-law (quiet hours 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
